Will Facebook be your new e-mail provider?

Mashable\'s Pete Cashmere writes in CNN that Facebook may be unveiling an e-mail service.

Facebook is hosting an event on Monday that’s raising speculation that the social media giant will overhaul its messaging service.

This could mean Facebook will compete with your e-mail provider, writes Mashable co-founder Pete Cashmere writes for CNN. (Mashable reported that Facebook acquired the FB.com domain just days ago.)

The move to combine social networking, chat and e-mail would be a “masterstroke” for Facebook, Cashmere writes.

However, Cashmere said that the Facebook brand is still associated with personal use. People might be reluctant to send a more serious message through a social network site.
