A National Academies panel concluded the U.S. needs to do more to deal with threats to health security. Those threats come from sources both natural like exotic diseases — and man-made — like terrorism. The large study panel also found that federal agencies are important components of health security. Panel member Brooke Courtney, also the senior regulatory counsel in the Office of Counterterrorism and Emerging Threats at the FDA, talked with Federal Drive with Tom Temin about the findings.
