Ready for Prime Time?

One element of the financial markets bailout bill that is still unclear is who inside the Federal government will be handling the money that Congress approves to buy the debt of troubled financial institutions. James Barth, former chief economist of the Office of Thrift Supervision and the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, and now senior fellow at the Milken Institute, says there’s no Federal agency ready to do the work…and that means something that’s sure to make some Federal employees, union leaders, and taxpayers grit their teeth…contractors.
