The House Judiciary Committee continues to look into the firing of nine U.S. Attorneys. On Friday they received a report from Justice Department Inspector General Glenn Fine. We covered some highlights of that hearing, including protections for potential whistleblowers; and talked about the hearing and whistleblower protections with Bill Bransford, a partner in the law firm Shaw, Bransford, Veilleux and Roth.

Spying: Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Going
Frederick Hitz certainly knows where the intelligence community has been. From 1990 to 1998, he was Inspector General at the Central Intelligence Agency. His new book, “Why Spy? Espionage in an Age of Uncertainty” provides a primer on the intelligence community, and ideas about where the spies of the 21st century will come from, and what talents and skills they’ll have.
Why I Should Keep My Job
The Senate is considering a bill introduced by Kansas Senator Sam Brownback to get rid of the office of Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs and replace it with a National Center for Strategic Communications, based on the U.S. Information Agency. James Glassman holds that position now, and he talked about his job at the National Press Club on Friday.
