Tax returns were one of the focal points of the Senate Finance Committee confirmation hearing for Timothy Geithner to become Treasury Secretary. Mr. Geithner answered questions about his personal finances, as well as the deficit and his participation in formulation of the Troubled Asset Relief Progam.

First Transition for Homeland Security

After being founded during the Bush Administration, the Homeland Security Department is undergoing its first transition. President Obama’s nominee to lead the Department, former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, was confirmed by the Senate shortly after the inauguration Tuesday. Secretary Napolitano’s confirmation hearing was before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee last week.
