Corrider is named after the long hallways in the State office where employees “engage in frank discussions of ideas,” wrote Gadi Ben-Yehuda, State’s social media director, in a blog post on the IBM Center for the Business of Government’s website.
The network will be kept behind the State firewall and is based on the WordPress platform, Ben-Yehuda wrote.
Unlike Facebook or Twitter, Corrider will allow State employees to collaborate with each other while avoiding “outside scrutiny,” he wrote.
Federal Computer Week reports that Richard Boly, director of the e-diplomacy office, confirmed a year ago that State was working on an internal social network. At that time, its name was Statebook.
