House cuts FDA budget by 12 percent
The House voted on a spending bill that will slash the Food and Drug Administration\'s budget by nearly 12 percent.

The House voted on a spending bill that will slash the Food and Drug Administration’s budget by nearly 12 percent.
FDA’s $2.5 billion budget was cut by $285 million. The legislation passed 217-203. The Senate has not yet released its version of the bill.
One federal employee union released a statement opposing the cuts.
“Without adequate funding, products will go untested, opportunities for medical advances lost and the public will have heightened anxiety from their medications, food for themselves and their pets, their use of medical devices and more,” said Colleen Kelley, president of the National Treasury Employees Union in a statement.
