More agencies are using reverse auctions in their procurement processes — especially for commodities. But some people who follow contracting argue agencies are abusing small businesses through the reverse auction process.
Raul Espinosa, the president of the Fairness in Procurement Alliance, In Depth with Francis Rose to discuss why he believes agencies are abusing simplified acquisitions.
“Since 2008 the rules of reverse auctions have been listed as being among the 10 worst abusers of small businesses … and regulators have done nothing to correct such abuse,” Espinosa wrote in a commentary for Federal Computer Week.
