Personally identifiable information for nearly 800,000 Postal Service employees was compromised in 2014. And cyber attacks also left 25,000 employees at the Homeland Security Department at risk last year. Karen Evans is the director of the U.S. Cyber Challenger and former E-Government administrator. In her top 3 for 2015, she tells In Depth with Francis Rose why the time is now for agencies to step up their cyber defense systems.

Karen Evans’ Top 3 for 2015

  1. Cybersecurity: With the passage of new legislation, this issue is only going to increase. The nation as a whole needs to work to improve their defenses related to the protection of their data and intellectual property.
  2. Data and information: It’s all about the data. Organizations, both public and private, need to protect their data. They need to start with the position they “already have in the networks” and implement a data protection strategy.
  3. Privacy: With the capabilities to collect data, there is a new and renewed responsibility for using and storing your data, including records management issues.

In our special radio report, Top 3 for 2015, federal experts tell In Depth host Francis Rose what top three concepts, trends or priorities they believe will be important in 2015.
