Yesterday DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton previewed a hearing of her House Transportation Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management. The hearing about FEMA’s response to Hurricanes Gustav and Ike included testimony from FEMA Deputy Administrator and Chief Operating Officer Harvey Johnson.

Getting “Smart” About Diplomacy

“Smart Power” in our country’s diplomatic efforts overseas was the subject of yesterday’s Senate Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management hearing. Chairman Daniel Akaka and the committee heard testimony on the first panel from Christopher Midura, Scott Delisi, Rick Ruth, and Peter Kovach of the State Department.
