The Senate voted yesterday to approve a bill yesterday to expand community service programs like Americorps, and could increase the number of positions to 250,000. The bill is now called the “Senator Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act”. Senator Kennedy received a standing ovation on the Senate floor yesterday after its passing. Tim McManus, Vice president of education and outreach for the Partnership for Public Service, tells us more about it.
