Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) is the new ranking member of the Senate Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management, the Federal Workforce, and the District of Columbia, part of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

In a statement, Johnson said, “Responsible oversight has never been more important than it is now, as we have seen federal spending increase by 25 percent in just the last few years. I’ve pushed for greater scrutiny of, and education about, inefficiencies and waste in government. I’m glad to have the opportunity to focus on the problem, through this subcommittee position.”

As the subcommittee ranking member, Johnson replaces Sen. George Voinovich (R-Ohio), who retired last year.
