The National Weather Service website experienced significant increases in Web activity as severe weather hit much of the nation.

The service’s network came under such pressure that state and local officials could not access radar or other data needed to help make decisions.

Laura Furgione, National Weather Service’s deputy director, and Craig Fugate, administrator of FEMA, give an update on the status of the website and government workers’ ability to access it.
