It’s all about getting the right person in for the right job. That’s the idea behind the Obama administration’s proposed cybersecurity policy.
Here’s how it would work. The federal government and industry experts would be able to “temporarily exchange” experts so that both can learn from each others’ expertise. The details behind the exchange are still being worked out but they did say the exchange would be for long-term rotational assignments. For example, people from the Department of Homeland Security could work at a company to gain exposure to the ways industry manages cybersecurity. And cybersecurity pros from the company could work at DHS as qualified experts.
The Washington Business Journal reports, the private sector employees would continue to collect their salaries from their company – which would in turn get reimbursed by the federal agency.
