Report: Mobile attacks a top cyber threat in 2012
The Georgia Tech Information Security Center and the Georgia Tech Research Institute are listing three main threats for next year.
2012 is still a few months away but cyber experts are already trying to anticipate what threats you may face next year, Insurance Journal reports.
The Georgia Tech Information Security Center and the Georgia Tech Research Institute are listing three main threats for next year, including mobile Web-based attacks as well as “search poisoning” and stolen cyber data used for marketing.
The Georgia Tech researchers said mobile phones, which users are increasingly using to access the Internet, pose specific vulnerabilities.
First, mobile browsers are much smaller than those on personal computers, making it easier to “obfuscate” a malicious site, the report found.
Also, mobile browsers rarely receive security patches and updates, according to the report.
Next year will also see new and even more sophisticated ways to capture and exploit data and an erosion of public online trust.
