A battle over the role companies should play in keeping the U.S. safe from cyber attacks threatens to kill cybersecurity legislation in the Senate.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he was disappointed, particularly with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, The Hill reported.
The Chamber opposes key security measures for businesses, even though they would be voluntary.
Reid also accused Republicans of trying to bury the bill with unrelated amendments, like one that would repeal the Affordable Care Act.
But there is some bipartisan consensus.
An amendment to require agencies to consolidate data centers more rapidly has support from both sides.
