One third of current Senior Executive Service members say they would not join the SES if offered the chance today. That’s according to the results of Federal News Radio’s online survey. Not the case for Leslie Knope on the TV show *Parks and Recreation — she’s getting promoted from a job at the National Park Service to a senior management position at the Interior Department. Leslie Knope is probably more excited about joining the SES than most of today’s SESers. Tom Shoop is editor in chief at Government Executive magazine. On In Depth with Francis Rose, he said there are a few reasons why this isn’t entirely accurate of most federal managers.
