The White House is putting enterprise risk management front and center as it updates a key policy on internal controls. That should be out later this year, but some agencies already have embraced the concept. The Census Bureau did so after a crisis several years ago that was embarrassing and costly. Nancy Potok was the Bureau’s chief financial officer back in 2000. She left the agency but returned in 2012 as its deputy director and chief operating officer.
