The FBI’s Sentinel case management system may be one of the most watched IT undertakings in government. Azmi is confident phase two will role out as scheduled in March or April, giving agents critical new capabilities. But he says Sentinel is just a small piece of the bureau’s IT infrastructure and that one of the biggest obstacles to expanding the bureau’s capabilities is the reams of data still stored in legacy systems. Azmi also says the technology is in place to enhance information sharing and talks about how the FBI’s new Blackberry devices are already making a difference.
