It’s tax season. And every year the IRS processes roughly 139 million individual tax returns.

So with so much time and money on the line the Government Accountability Office took a look at the agency’s efficiency measures. GAO found that one of the more daunting tasks for the IRS is determining who has passed away in the last year. Database provider LexisNexis has some programs to help.
