DoD stop loss pay deadline extended

March 4, 2011, is the new deadline to apply for Retroactive Stop Loss Pay.

The deadline to apply for Retroactive Stop Loss Special Pay has been extended to March 4, 2011, for eligible servicemembers, veterans and their beneficiaries.

“There was a surge of applicants as we approached our earlier deadline, but there may still be more out there who have yet to apply,” said Lernes Hebert, director of the Officer and Enlisted Personnel Management, in a statement.

The Stop Loss pay was established to compensate military members for hardships encountered when their service was involuntarily extended. Eligible members or beneficiaries can submit a claim to receive $500 for each full or partial month served under Stop Loss status.
