On this week’s edition of On DoD: Most service members and U.S. citizens deployed overseas will have to account for the inherent delays involved in a two-way mailing process to make sure their ballots are counted on Nov. 8. Still, some amount of procrastination is okay,  because the Defense Department will foot the bill for military members and DoD civilians to send their ballots back home by Express Mail.

Gabe Telles, the Navy’s director for postal operations talks with us about what service members need to do to ensure their ballots cross transoceanic routes as quickly as possible.

We’ll also get an update on several issues dealing with Air Force recruiting and training, including the Air Force’s effort to double the training pipeline for remotely-piloted aircraft operators. Lt. Gen. Darryl Roberson, the commander of Air Education and Training Command spoke with reporters at the annual Air, Space and Cyber conference in National Harbor, Maryland. We’ll hear extended excerpts from that discussion.
