The Partnership for Public Service recently announced the finalists for the 2016 Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals.

Burel operates the Strategic National Stockpile, $7 billion worth of medicine and medical equipment used for emergency medical situations like Ebola or influenza pandemics. It exists as part of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s crisis response program.
“Under Greg’s leadership, the performance of the Strategic National Stockpile has gotten increasingly better. Distribution is more rapid than ever before,” said Lisa Kaplowitz, senior medical adviser for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
