Jones created a bond program for poor urban and rural communities to help create small businesses, affordable housing, day-care and senior centers, and other community resources. Since 2013, it has made available more than $852 million in loans specifically for low-income individuals.
“What Lisa Jones has accomplished is highly unique. The program is an example of great innovation,” Tricia Kerney-Willis, a senior advisor at the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund said. “There is no way this financing program would be successful without Lisa.”
