Many hospitals are making cutbacks to help weather the economic storm, causing health IT budgets to feel the squeeze. More than half of the nation’s hospitals have had to postpone health IT projects because of the recession, according to a new American Hospital Association survey of more than 1,000 hospitals. But, only 6 percent of hospitals have completely stopped projects that were under way. The president of AHA says hospitals are walking a tightrope and trying to balance community needs with economic challenges.
