Obstetricians and nurses may soon be able to remotely access and monitor their patients’ vital signs. The new technology will give doctors and nurses real-time, remote access to fetal and maternal data like fetal heart rates and maternal contractions. They’ll also get other information from labor and delivery rooms, like vital signs and notes from other nurses. The doctors will be able to get the information via cell phone connections on mobile devices like BlackBerrys, iPhones and other smart phones.
