Continuous Monitoring? Been there, doing that

This week, Federal Security Spotlight talks with John Streufert of the State Department. June 10, 2010

June 10, 2010 — Federal Security Spotlight this week catches up with John Streufert, the chief technology officer at the State Department.

He has become the go-to guy for best practices on continuous monitoring of networks to ensure security patches are up to date.

The Office of Management and Budget has recently instructed all agencies to add this functionality, and pending legislation would add the force of law to the requirement.

But Streufert implemented a continuous monitoring program three years ago.

He explains the benefits to date, and where State is headed in its cyber security plans.
