FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Smartphone case maker OtterBox is replacing its CEO following the global expansion of the Fort Collins, Colorado-based company.

OtterBox announced the departure of CEO Brian Thomas on Friday as well as the appointment of his replacement, company President and Chief Operating Officer Peter Lindgren. Lindgren, who joined the company in 2012, will serve as both president and CEO.

Company spokesman Jordan Vater told the Coloradoan (http://noconow.co/1EiaxIh ) that the change is “part of the ongoing evolution” of OtterBox but didn’t give a specific reason for Thomas’ exit.

OtterBox, which makes waterproof boxes and cases, had $2 million in revenue when Thomas was hired in 2003. Now, it has nearly $1 billion in sales and has more than 800 full-time employees in the U.S., most of them in Fort Collins.
