Defense to spend more on intelligence

Even while trimming DOD across the board, Defense Secretary Robert Gates plans to spend more in some areas. A planned reorganization of military intelligence will mean a boost in purchases of certain aircraft. Gates wants to consolidate intelligence groups he says are redundant. But he wants to buy more Air Force Reaper drone airplanes, and more Army MC-12 reconnaissance planes. Gates says demand from commanders for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, exceeds the supply.
