NSA wants bulletproof smartphones

The National Security Agency wants to be able to outfit military personnel with commercial smartphones and tablets -- but based on a NSA security design.

The National Security Agency plans to outfit military workers with smart phones and tablets, but only after it figures out how to secure them. The phones, not the workers. InfoWorld reports, the NSA wants to have three or four devices available. Debora Plunkett, director of the NSA’s information assurance directorate, described the mobile platform strategy at a Gartner security meeting. She said NSA would take what she called a good-enough security approach for tablets and smart phones. The premise being, such devices would only handle and store information temporarily.
