The House is likely to give overwhelming support when it votes later today on a bill to help government contractors and unemployed veterans, the Associated Press reported. It’s the first small part of President Obama’s jobs plan. The Senate approved it last week.
Under this legislation, companies that hire unemployed veterans would be eligible for a tax credit of up to $9,600. The bill also repeals a 2006 law that requires the federal government to withhold three percent of its payments to contractors.
