As temperatures in the Washington D.C. area begin to climb into the sweltering three-digit territory over the next few days, the Office of Personnel Management has issued a memo on coping with the heat and humidity.
In the memo, OPM Director John Berry reminded executive agency and department heads to be “proactive” in dealing with the heat. “We should take all available steps to ensure [employees] are protected during potentially dangerous heat waves that are likely to continue throughout this summer, particularly our employees who perform their duties outdoors,” he wrote.
OPM recommends employees stay hydrated and that various federal health agencies continue to provide information and advice on dealing with severe heat.
