As the Air Force absorbs budget cuts, the Pentagon and Capitol Hill still have an unresolved dispute. A Congressionally-chartered commission is holding hearings across the country on the future structure of the Air Force, how much of the service’s force structure should stay full-time, and how much should stay in the National Guard. Russell Rumbaugh, the director of Stimson Center’s Budgeting for Foreign Affairs and Defense program, testified before that panel a week ago. He talked with Federal News Radio’s Jared Serbu about some the of political fights between the Air Force’s active and reserve components.
