New safety standards for federal facilities released

The Department of Homeland Security has been working for some time to bring together a set of security standards for all types of federal facilities.

Now, just a week before the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, the Committee is releasing two new safety standards.

Sue Armstrong is Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection at DHS.

She says the new standards will leverage over a decade of collaboration and research conducted by experts from across government.
