  • CIA Director Leon Panetta is warning that cyber space could open up the door for a digital Pearl Harbor on the nation’s power grid. Panetta, speaking to the Sacramento Metro Chamber in California, says the the US faces thousands of daily attacks comming from hackers in Russia, China and Iran and other countries. He says an attack on the power grid could cripple the country and that cyber terrorism is a new area of concern for the CIA.
  • More than 400,000 customers of Affinity Health Plan are being notified after their personal data was leaked after the insurer failed to erase the digital copier hard drive. CBS first reported earlier in the week that digital copiers built after 2002 are essentially computers that store an image of every document scanned, copied or emailed on a hard drive. Dark Reading.com says the personal data was found in a New Jersey warehouse after the digital copier was leased. Failure to properly dispose of medical records is a violation of New York privacy regulations and could carry fines or other sanctions.
