Pentagon wants a $3.2 billion cyber budget

Based on new figures, the military expects to spend more than three times what DHS is requesting for cyber operations.

The Pentagon is asking for an additional $1.1 billion dollars for cybersecurity projects in their revised 2012 budget proposal. DoD had initially asked for $2.3 billion in the budget proposal released by the White House last month. NextGov reports more programs are being reclassified as cybersecurity related, prompting the request for additional funding. The Pentagon’s $3.2 billion cyber budget proposal is three times what the Homeland Security Department is asking for to manage civilian cybersecurity programs.
