McKeon seeks to keep earmarks out of 2012 Defense authorization bill

The man in charge of the House Armed Services Committee is changing some rules for 2012 defense authorization bill. Congressman Buck McKeon has moved to keep earmarks out of it.

Defense News reports the guidelines also aim for more transparency and debate on legislative proposals. And they come as House Republican leaders work on banning earmarks from all House bills.

The Armed Services Committee starts marking up the Pentagon bill in May.
