The Coast Guard has about $20 billion worth of infrastructure, including more than 7,000 buildings on its shore-based installations. But officials say, so far, a lack of insight into the condition of those facilities has kept the service from making the best use of its limited maintenance dollars. A new tool called the Organizational Level Maintenance dashboard aims to fix that. Appearing on Federal Drive with Tom Temin, Nick DeLaura, the chief of the Facilities Management Branch at the Coast Guard Shore Infrastructure Logistics Center, told Federal News Radio’s Jared Serbu how the tool is helping the service move toward more preventative maintenance.
