The Pentagon’s Office of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity is working closely with the services to develop a strategic plan for diversity across the total force, according to Defense.gov.
Navy Capt. Ken Barrett, the acting deputy director of DoD’s diversity office, said the Defense Department can be an example to other employers both in the public and private sectors. But he also said there is room for improvement, such as expanding its recruiting and hiring to enhance diversity.
