The good news about the 2012 Defense Authorization Act is that the House and Senate have each passed a bill. The bad news is, they’ve passed different bills, so they’ll have to sit down and negotiate the differences to get a single bill that can pass both chambers.

Many of the incongruities surround issues affecting government contracting.

Alan Chvotkin, the vice president and general counsel at the Professional Services Council, joined In Depth with Francis Rose to discuss what industry would like to see in a final bill.

The PSC, along with the Acquisition Reform Working Group, a conglomeration of industry groups, responded to the defense authorization amendments in a letter to lawmakers.

Chvotkin sounded off on the contractor pay cap, a counterfeit-parts reporting provision and the reappearance of the tricky phrase “inherently governmental.”
