Round two of congressional probes into the GSA scandal got underway on Tuesday with a hearing held by the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management. The chairman of that subcommittee, Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) has threatened to tear the agency apart and put it back together again. But is there a reason to do that beyond politics? Policy analyst Larry Allen talks to In Depth about what GSA could look like after the dust settles.

Daniel CastroSenior Analyst, Information Technology and Innovation Foundation

After abruptly pulling the plug on a procurement plan in February, the Air Force is giving tablet computers another shot. The Air Force Special Operations Command is asking for 2,725 third-generation iPads, or their technological equivalent, for its pilots to use to store digital flight charts. The previous plan was abandoned amid security concerns after the media found ASFSOC planned to use Russian software. Daniel Castro, a senior analyst at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, talks to Francis Rose about the security concerns and what, if anything, has changed with the new plan.
