Geldart is also the acting director of the city’s Office of Unified Communications which handles both emergency (911) and non-emergency (311) calls.
His agency handled 1.4 million 911 calls last year from citizens who needed help from the district’s police, fire, and ambulance services. Residents who needed snow removed, their trash picked up, and potholes repaired on roads in from of their houses made 1.8 million calls last year to the 311 city services line.
Geldart also talked about two new new apps that citizens can use for emergency and non-emergency services. Smart911 and DC 311 can be downloaded from iTunes and Google Play.
