If your family consists of two people, you have a until the end of the month to make a change that could reduce your health insurance premiums from a few hundred dollars to potentially more than $5,000 this year.
The Self Plus One option is being offered by the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program is for families totally two people – single parent with one child, a couple with no children, empty-nesters, etc.
But before you dive in and make the change, homework is required. There are 31 national health plans available to federal workers, postal employees and retirees. And you’ll need to compare your Self Plus Family health premiums against the new Self Plus One option.
