IT program manager is now a real position in the government. The Office of Personnel Management revised part of the 2210 job series for information technology to include the new job title. Angela Bailey, OPM’s deputy associate director for recruitment and hiring, sent a memo to agency human resource officers saying the IT program manager job series “reflects the growth of this type of work,” and will give “agencies more flexibility to manage IT programs responsibly and to attract and retain a more effective workforce.”

#3 Survey: Nearly Half Of Cloud Services Users Have Had A Breach In The Past Year

Nearly half of IT executives have reported a security lapse or issue with their cloud services provider within the past 12 months, according to a new survey. The survey by Trend Micro, which polled 1,200 decision makers in the U.S., U.K., Germany, India, Canada, and Japan, found that slightly more than 10 percent of the respondents currently have cloud computing projects in production.

The Obama administration’s IT reform plan marks its six-month anniversary June 9 and several agency CIOs have prepared for it by updating the public on the plan’s implementation at their agencies. As of June 7, 11 CIOs had posted blog entries on the official CIO.gov website that detail the progress of IT reform at federal organizations .
