The Pentagon expects to have 40,000 iPhones and Android smartphones on its military networks within the next year. Right now the Defense Information Systems Agency has only deployed about 4,000, so the Pentagon will have to average about 3,000 new devices every month to meet that goal. Horace Blackman is vice president of health and life sciences at Lockheed Martin and former regional chief information officer for the Veterans Affairs Department.
