Dave Wennergren – Deputy CIO

The Defense Department’s move to a services oriented architecture is underway.

Dave Wennergren, DOD’s deputy chief information officer, points to a series of efforts throughout the department that highlight how it is using technology to make applications and information more accessible, and more secure.

One example Wennergren points to is the collaboration tools offered by the Defense Information Systems Agency that most DOD agencies are using.

At the same time, Wennergren says this new way of doing business is bolstering DOD’s ability to share information and secure it.

He says communities of interest are flourishing across DOD and including other non-Defense agnecies as well.

The direction DOD is heading is clear, Wennergren says.

It is all about making the data.
