Will Secretary of Defense Gates’ legacy continue?

The DoD Secretary says he wants to leave before 2012.

We told you yesterday that Defense Secretary Robert Gates has said he wants to retire sometime next year — before the 2012 elections.

Gates will be remembered for many things, including the elimination of programs he saw as wasteful.

But many are wondering if his legacy can continue. Will the next Secretary of Defense follow the plans already laid out by Gates?
