Jacques Gansler, the former undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics and now a professor at the University of Maryland, has written a book on how to create a 21st-century arsenal. He joined the Federal Drive to discuss how DoD can better balance its books without harming national security.
Gansler addressed just how bad the budget squeeze DoD faces will be, as well as the military’s modernization needs for its weapons systems and how the Pentagon should prioritize them.
The former DoD acquisition chief, Gansler also discussed how to break the cycle of seemingly never-ending cost overruns and technical problems that plague nearly every major weapons system.
