Gov. McDonnell on why he’s against JFCOM closing
Gov. Bob McDonnell (R-Va.) joined WTOP\'s Ask the Governor to discuss why he believes DoD should not close the Joint Forces Command in his state.
The Joint Forces Command in Norfolk, Va., won’t be going away any time soon. That’s the opinion of one state official who has been lobbying against closing down Joint Forces Command.
Closing down the Command has been a controversial part of DoD’s effort to cut $100 billion from its budget over the next three years.
Gov. Bob McDonnell (R-Va.) appeared on WTOP’s Ask The Governor program on Tuesday to discuss a meeting he had recently with Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
McDonnell told host Mark Segraves that Gates does not seem prepared to move all functions of Joint Forces inside the Beltway.
