Mike Pompeo has been nominated to lead the State Department, but what shape is the agency in and how does its workplace compare to other large federal agencies?
During fiscal 2017, 555 full-time, nonseasonal, permanent employees at the State Department either quit or retired, compared with 442 who left the Department in 2013 at the start of former President Barack Obama’s second term, a difference of 113 employees, according to FedScope.
